Cards and Games

There are several groups that meet regularly in the clubhouse to play cards, Mahjongg and Bingo.  You don’t need to be an expert to join any of these groups, but some knowledge of the game is necessary.  All of these groups welcome new members, so if there is a game you enjoy, come join the fun!

Bridge
Mondays at 12:45 PM to about 3:30 PM – Game Room
Wednesdays at 12:45 PM – Game Room

We play “Party Bridge” both days.  Six hands are played then we change partners four times, so each person will play twenty-four hands and have four different partners for the day – a great way to meet new people and play a lot of bridge!  You don’t need to have a partner to join us, just come and we’ll make sure you play and have lots of fun.

Each player pays .25 cents a day which goes for prizes and supplies.  There are annual dues of $4.00.

Thursday at 7:00 PM – Game Room
We play “Party Bridge” on Thursday evenings.  Players change tables and partners after every five hands.  Singles are welcome, as are players of all skill levels.  The first Thursday in May is our ‘pie night’, a get-together at 6:30, followed by bridge.

We pay $4.00 per year dues and ante 25 cents per night toward prizes.

Novice Duplicate Bridge
Second and Fourth Fridays of the Month at 1:00 PM

Players pay 50 cents each at game time.  For more information, contact Alice Miller at 503-968-7022.

Duplicate Bridge
Thursdays at 1:00 PM – Game Room

This is not a beginners group, but you don’t have to be a “Life Master”, or ACBL member to join.  There are usually 6 to 9 tables each week; the play starts at 1:00 PM., and usually ends around 4:00 PM.  The director takes the score sheets from all the boards, runs them on the ACBL computer program and calls the winners, which are the first three places, both north and south.

Each member pays 50 cents each Thursday which goes for prizes and supplies.

Bingo
Second and Fourth Fridays of the Month – Game Room

Card selection starts at 7:00 PM, Calling of numbers: 7:30 PM to about 9:30 PM

You don’t need to be a resident of Summerfield to play. Everyone is welcome.  We play several different games each night; each has a pot for the winners.
Cost: First card $1.50; all additional cards $1.00 each. You may play as many cards as you like.

Canasta
Wednesdays at 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM – Game Room

Canasta is played by many different rules throughout the country, join us and we’ll help you learn how we play!  Although you need a partner to play Canasta, if you don’t have one you are welcome to join us anyway.  Contact us in advance, there’s a good chance there may be a partner available for you.

We play for fun, not money.  There are annual dues of $2.00.

Cribbage
Most Mondays at 9:30 AM – Game Room

Play Cribbage for free!!  The Summerfield Cribbage Club invites you to enjoy most Monday mornings from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 – 12 noon with the Cribbage Group of 55+.  Challenge your 15–2, 15–4, 15–6 skills.

Free lessons or refresher lessons.

Mah Jongg
Tuesdays and Fridays at 1:00 PM – Game Room

Our group belongs to the National Mahjongg League and plays this ancient Chinese game of tiles by those rules.  There are no dues, no prizes just a whole lot of fun!  If you are interested in joining, stop by, new members are always welcome.

Pinochle
Mondays at 7:00 PM – Game Room

Players pay 25 cents each evening.

Poker
Mondays at 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM – Ping Pong / Card Room
