Book Club
Second Tuesday of the Month – 2:00 PM – Summerfield Clubhouse Conference Room
All residents of Summerfield, including snowbirds, are welcome to join us. Attendance varies from sixteen to twenty or more. There are no dues.
We read a different book each month except December. The books are chosen by a small book selection committee from suggestions by the members. The availability of the books is considered (in paperback, number of copies in the Washington County Library system) as well as variety in type i.e., fiction, non-fiction, biography, mystery, etc., but hopefully all books of quality.
The book selection committee presents a list of the chosen books in November and members volunteer to introduce information about the author of one of the books. The completed lists are distributed at the December holiday party.
At the monthly meetings, after the volunteer has introduced the author information, we take turns around the room commenting about the book. We enjoy lively discussions in an informal setting and welcome new members.
Each month, the Summerfield Summary Newsletter includes an article with information about that month’s book. Even if you can’t join us, you may want to read the books we are reading.
The list of books chosen for the year is posted in the Summerfield Library.
Books can be ordered at a 10% discount from Colleen Willis (503) 624-6307.
Powell’s Book Store will buy back books in good condition. Books can be put on reserve at the Tigard City Library.
